Epsilon Advanced Materials has received a non-binding Letter of Interest from the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) for up to $420 million in debt financing. The funds would support EAM’s planned synthetic graphite anode facility in Leland, North Carolina, as part of EXIM’s “Make More in America” initiative.
The project aims to commission 30,000 tonnes of battery-grade synthetic graphite by 2027, with plans to scale up to 60,000 tonnes by 2030 – enough to supply approximately one million electric vehicles annually.
Managing Director Vikram Handa described the support as a major step in strengthening domestic supply chains and U.S. energy security, highlighting the facility’s role in reducing dependence on Chinese graphite.
