Key highlights
- Zhengzhou Fengyi and Pingdingshan Tianbao both announce ~$437/t price increases effective 1 March.
- Cited reasons: rising raw material and labour costs, production cost inversion, and product quality upgrades.
Two Chinese specialty graphite producers – Zhengzhou Fengyi New Materials Technology and Pingdingshan Tianbao Special Materials – have announced uniform price increases of ~$437 per tonne across their product lines, effective 1 March 2026.
Zhengzhou Fengyi, first to announce on 25 February, cited rising raw material costs, increasing labour costs, and production cost inversion as drivers. Pingdingshan Tianbao followed on the 26th, pointing to market fluctuations, rising costs, and ongoing product quality upgrades.
Why it matters
Back-to-back price hikes from two producers in quick succession suggest cost pressures in the specialty graphite segment are becoming hard to absorb. If more producers follow, this could feed through to downstream anode material pricing.
What to watch next
Whether other specialty graphite producers announce similar adjustments. Customer reaction and any impact on order volumes. And whether this signals a broader pricing inflection across graphite products.
