Key Highlights
Epuno (埃普诺), a fast-growing Chinese silicon-carbon anode producer, is on track to begin trial production at its 60,000 tpa silicon-carbon anode project in Xingtai, Hebei Province, by June 2026. The project, located in the city’s High-tech Zone, involves a total investment of ¥2.4 billion (~$348 million) and will house three silicon-carbon anode production lines. At full capacity, the facility is expected to generate annual revenue of ¥1 billion (~$145 million). As of the latest update, the main building structures and core factory buildings have been completed, and installation preparation for production equipment is underway.
Epuno’s broader expansion footprint is extensive. In Sichuan’s Neijiang, a ¥10.5 billion (~$1.45 billion) project targeting 300,000 tpa of silicon-carbon anode capacity saw its Phase 1 (60,000 tpa across three lines) commissioned in May 2025 – the first such facility in the region. In Xichang, Sichuan’s Liangshan Prefecture, a ¥5.2 billion (~$755 million) project for 120,000 tpa has completed equipment commissioning on its first 60,000 tpa line, with production expected in H1 2026. Additionally, a 20,000 tpa project in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, was signed and is expected to break ground in March 2026.
In total, Epuno’s commissioned and under-construction silicon-carbon anode capacity now exceeds 900,000 tpa, and the company is targeting the one-million-tonne milestone.
Company Background
Founded in 2021, Epuno Group describes itself as a specialist in silicon-carbon anode R&D, production, and sales. The company’s core technology is based on what it calls a “structure–interface integration” approach, which it claims addresses the volume expansion, poor conductivity, and interface instability challenges inherent in silicon-based anode materials. Epuno says its silicon-carbon products offer high specific capacity, strong cycling stability, and environmental compatibility, and are designed to support lithium-ion batteries with energy densities of 300 Wh/kg and above.
