GrafTech International (NYSE: EAF) has announced the permanent closure of its Monterrey, Mexico graphite electrode facility, with production ending early in Q2 2027. The move cuts annual capacity by 51,000 tonnes to 127,000 tonnes and is expected to deliver US$20 million to US$25 million in annual cash cost savings, with output shifting to Calais and Pamplona.
Westwater Resources 25m EXIM Loan

Westwater Resources (NYSE American: WWR) is set to receive a US$25 million loan from the US Export-Import Bank for its Alabama graphite mine and processing facility, according to a Reuters report. The financing forms part of a US$58 million package for three critical-mineral companies, and would support what Reuters described as the country’s first source of natural graphite. WWR shares closed up 87.7% on the report.
