Key Highlights
Kaijin New Energy (凯金新能源) is scaling rapidly across multiple Chinese provinces and beginning to explore overseas expansion. Key developments include a 200,000 tpa high-performance anode material project in Gutian County, Ningde (Fujian Province), backed by a total investment of ¥50 billion (~$7.3 billion). Phase 1 is expected to be operational by June 2026, with forecast annual revenue of ¥6 billion (~$871 million) and tax contributions of ¥360 million (~$52 million) at full capacity.
In Guizhou, the company’s Tongren base – a 100,000 tpa anode material facility – is set to fully resume production in March 2026. That project, originally landed in 2021 through the Dongguan–Tongren industrial cooperation programme, went from groundbreaking to trial production in just 72 days. Revenue at the Guizhou base has grown rapidly: from ¥1.3 billion (~$189 million) in 2023 to ¥1.91 billion (~$277 million) in 2024, and approaching ¥4 billion (~$581 million) in 2025 – more than tripling in two years. Utilisation rates stabilised at 85–100% in 2025 following full customer qualification. Kaijin is targeting ¥5 billion (~$726 million) in revenue from Guizhou in 2026 and will commence construction of a 50,000 tpa integrated graphitisation project to further reduce per-tonne energy consumption by 2,000–3,000 kWh and shorten production cycles by over 15 days.
On the international front, Kaijin recently visited the Slovak Consulate General in Shanghai to discuss investment conditions and policy incentives for potential plant construction in Slovakia. The company has signalled plans to establish production bases in the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas to serve global customers.
Company Background
Founded in 2012, Kaijin New Energy specialises in synthetic graphite anode, silicon-based anode, and hard carbon anode materials for power, consumer, and energy storage batteries. The company’s synthetic graphite anode shipment volume now ranks in the global top four, and it claims the number one position globally for commercial vehicle battery-grade synthetic graphite anode. Key customers include CATL, BYD, EVE Energy, Hithium, ATL, SVOLT, LG Energy Solution, and SK Innovation. The company’s product portfolio includes high-capacity synthetic graphite (>360 mAh/g), ultra-long-cycle anode (>15,000 cycles), and 6C fast-charge graphite anode. Kaijin also produces silicon oxide, pre-lithiated silicon oxide, and vapour-deposited silicon anode products, along with a low-cost hard carbon anode for sodium-ion and energy storage applications. The R&D team numbers over 500, with 304 granted patents including 131 invention patents.
