Huizhou BTR New Materials Technology has completed project filing for an 80,000 t/y lithium battery anode material integrated production line project, according to a public disclosure by the Huizhou Huiyang District Development and Reform Bureau.

The filing (reference 2603-441303-04-01-570474) was submitted on 28 February and approved on 2 March 2026. The project carries a total investment of CNY 550 million (~$79.8M) and will be located within BTR’s existing campus in Huangdong Village, Zhenlongzhen, Huiyang District, Huizhou.

The project will occupy 37,000 m² of land with 47,188 m² of total building area, including a 44,138 m² A3 factory building, a 2,700 m² automated storage facility, and a 530 m² expansion of the 110kV substation. Construction is scheduled from March 2026 to December 2027.

BTR (Shenzhen-listed parent: BTR New Material Group) is the world’s largest anode material producer by volume, and any capacity addition is material to the global supply picture. The 80,000 t/y integrated line in Huizhou – built within an existing campus – suggests brownfield expansion rather than a new greenfield site, which typically allows for faster ramp and lower risk. The relatively modest investment of ~$80M for 80K t/y capacity points to an emphasis on processing and integration rather than upstream graphitisation, which is far more capital-intensive.
